This interview with Our Magda has me smiling for a few reasons today.
It also has me questioning the thoughts of people who like to make their opinions known without being in the same situation. Perhaps these folk have never doubted themselves? Perhaps they’ve never faced a struggle that they just can’t beat? Maybe they confront their issues and all is black and white in their worlds?
Who knows? This post isn’t dedicated to the preachers.
This is noteworthy: the fact that Magda said she’s absolutely overwhelmed and so moved by the beautiful response (of) the Australian public since she came out.’ Hoo-bloody-roo! What a fantastic thing to read in a media often awash with negativity, the footy scores, or which sporting hero is doing which next top model.
We are one, but we are many.
We care more than we seem to — suffering for our sisters in drought, our brothers in flood, our fathers at war. Our mothers during the depression or when they had no voice or during time of less opportunity. We waste time and take the breadth of our land for granted. We splash in water we pollute, sully soil that we claim should produce our summer backyard tomatoes, BBQ beef till it’s charcoaled and dry.
Strine, and how we say it
Over the last five years, online writing has allowed me to chat cyberly with people from all around the globe. I’ve made a couple of good friends. It’s almost like having amazing pen pals, but you don’t have to wait a month for an exchange of information, you don’t have to buy ‘air mail’ stamps, and you don’t have to run to the newsagent when you’ve run out of envelopes.
(Hmm, because this is a language-based post, I wonder if you say envelope or onvelope?)
